The Idea

Have your cake and meet us too

To achieve both having a visual anchor to attract visitors (as they were several dozen other companies competing on the exhibition floor) and transport the message swiftly and conviniently, an interactive data floor was set up.
Since existing floor projection solutions at the time were far too simple and did not enable for the level of interaction and performance that was required, a custom solution was developed. 15 square meters, up to 7 visitors interacting at once and object tracking for different data view - the yellow hardhat would show engineering data, as opposed to regular operational data without it.
Additional events happend during interaction with the floor, such as emergency calls popping up over specific locations.

The Results

It did have legs

The BDEW conference takes place over a 2 1/2-day period, and has about 1500 attendees. Through this timeframe, about 300 valid leads were generated, which was very good given that only break time was usable, adding up to a couple of hours. The event management named the installation the best of the event, and their exit polls had excellent feedback for it from visitors.
